Weekend Read 19 November 2022
As I welcome you to another Weekend Read, I would just like to comment on cause and effect relationships, which I touched on last week. Of course they vary in magnitude, but however big or small, they have an impact and that was certainly true last weekend. The cause, we launched a big refresh of our site a couple of days before the last Weekend Read. The effect, many of you couldn’t log into your account without our help and that was despite extensive testing before we put the site changes live. So please allow me to apologise if you were having difficulties and I think, and hope, this issue has now been resolved.
And as things go, that wasn’t the only thing that created problems because by 8.45 am last Saturday I knew another issue was arising, and it was a lip issue. To be precise it was a Smooth Upper Lip Professional Perioral Anti-Ageing Treatment stock issue and I give thanks that nobody could see my face as I was watching the order screen. I had commented that I had a thing about vertical lip lines, and I also wrote that I had a thing about sprouting chin hairs. And then the entire thing became a bigger thing, a problematic thing in fact, because a famine for Smooth Upper Lip, the recommended solution for vertical lip lines and lipstick bleeding into those lines, descended upon us. A rather big famine. Actually.
Let me walk you through this. I knew we were sitting on all available UK stock, but because it was the weekend, I couldn’t reach out for more stock, not least because of the time difference between the UK and the US. Dermelect is based in the US and because I didn’t have that information, I had to make a call on the situation and that call was to temporarily stop allowing you to order Smooth Upper Lip. My reasoning was essentially based on the fact that we couldn’t accept monies without knowing the status of the product. What a Saturday morning. Fuelled by coffee and Ross J. Barr’s Calm Patches.
Anyway, the update is that I have now put Smooth Upper Lip on a pre-order status, which is essentially a wait list, because we will be receiving a Smooth Upper Lip delivery within the next few days. So just to say that having written about sprouting chin hairs too, I will now offer you a solution in the shape of the Tweezy, which I also use. I should have written about this last weekend, but I was so focused on the issues of lipstick bleeding, I totally forgot. So as some kind of compensation for my mental lapse, I will drop the price of the Tweezy from £10 to £8 across the weekend.
Smooth Upper Lip Professional Perioral Anti-Ageing Treatment £45 for 15 ml by Dermelect Cosmeceuticals; Tweezy Facial Hair Remover £8 (offer ends midnight GMT, Sunday 20 November)
Onwards, it is that time of the year again, and of course I am talking about Black Friday and having offered early access to some of our own-branded product promotions on Tuesday, let me just run through them again for ease. The caveat across all of these offers is that they will only be available whilst stock lasts and because in all probability you will have seen these offers, there is no need to dwell, so I’m literally just highlighting them for you. Here we go:
Fulvic first, and to begin we have an offer on Fulvic Shampoo, which is buy one, get one free, with a saving of £25; following through on that, we are offering the full-size Fulvic Face Cream (60 ml) free with every order of Fulvic Elixir (480 ml), which is worth £30. Moving onto Garden of Wisdom, if you buy one Vitamin C 23% + Ferulic Acid, we will send you a second tube free, so that’s worth £10 and Anti-Aging Multi-Peptide Serum arrives with a free bottle of Eye Contour Serum, which is worth £19.50.
Buy One Fulvic Acid Shampoo & Get One Free £25; Buy Fulvic Elixir (480 ml) And Get Fulvic Face Cream (60 ml) Free £30; Buy One Vitamin C 23% Serum And Get One Free £10; Buy One Anti-Aging Multi-Peptide Serum And Get A Free Bottle of Eye Contour Serum £21.50
Finally, it’s Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength where with every HA purchased we will automatically include the travel size (15 capsules) free, which is worth £17.50. Well, you really didn’t think that I would leave out one of our bestselling supplements. It remains to be seen if it wins an award this year, that would be the VH Awards which are coming soon. Saturday 3 December to be precise. If I’m still breathing after all of this. And I haven’t really started yet. Take a deep breath. I’m on a roll.
Hyaluronic Acid High Strength Capsules (30 capsules) + Free Travel Size Hyaluronic Acid High Strength Capsules (15 Capsules) £35
Right, before we go any further, let me just say that where I am doing specific brand offers, as I will be doing in a moment or two, these offers are only applicable within the timescale given. There is no doubt that within these given times many products will flip onto pre-order status, so this is just to say that we will absolutely honour all orders placed, unless there is a catastrophe. If such a thing happens, and I hope it doesn’t, we will let you know as soon as we possibly can. And after last weekend, if anything goes dreadfully wrong, I think I’ll just go back to bed and dream of better moments. With a Spacemask. And earplugs. Silence is golden.
Spacemasks £16.50 For Five Spacemasks
As I have written so often, I have a big soft spot for the brands we have launched and having done the global launch of LixirSkin, for and on behalf of Dr Colette Haydon, I am always so incredibly happy to support all that is LixirSkin. But of course it’s not only the products, it’s the relationship that we have between us and the intent that we share in all that we do together. Loyalty is incredibly important to me, and because so many of you are loyal to LixirSkin, I thought you would appreciate a 20% discount across all LixirSkin products. So, consider it done and I think I know what the bestselling product will be. Whispering Vitamin C Paste.
LixirSkin (offer ends at midnight GMT, Sunday 20 November)
We didn’t do the global launch of this brand, but we did the UK launch and once again, I am so very grateful for the privilege of writing about products that have really helped so many of you. I am talking about Thyme Out, a brand offering a natural solution to help treat compromised skin concerns from eczema and psoriasis, to cold sores, cuts, grazes, prickly heat and inflamed skin. Each of the products in the range are based upon a simple water-based organic tincture steeped with the power of Thyme. Nothing to add really, except to say that its efficacy is amazing and with that said, I am offering you a 15% discount across all of the Thyme Out products.
Thyme Out (offer ends at midnight GMT, Sunday 20 November)
I’ll let this next offer run until Wednesday, but please bear with us if we go out of stock on anything because it will take time to replenish our stock levels because the products are blended in Arizona. Well, that was a clue, if ever you needed one, and I really don’t think I could have written this newsletter without including the Garden of Wisdom products. I know that I have used three of the Garden of Wisdom products above, but I wanted to extend this offer further, which obviously does not include the three products already discounted. So that’s what I will do by offering you a 15% discount across all other Garden of Wisdom products in the range.
Garden of Wisdom For Victoria Health (offer ends at midnight GMT, Wednesday 23 November)
In the middle of everything, let’s do a health concern and it is a very common health concern, most especially at this time of year. I write about this regimen every year because it really does work, and it has helped so many of you. So, making its annual appearance, here is Shabir’s Post-Nasal Drip Regimen, linked below and because it’s a very short article, I will say nothing further other than to tell you that I have done price drops on two of the products recommended, as below. And these offers are for the interim.
VH Editorial: Post-Nasal Drip Regimen; Marshmallow Capsules £4.99 for 30 Capsules; Plantago Tincture by A. Vogel £9 for 50 ml (drops from £10.85); Ivy Thyme Complex by A. Vogel £10 for 50 ml (drops from £11.15)
Back to it and we didn’t include Daily Immunity in our early Black Friday offers, so it makes an appearance here because it is so important that we protect our immunity as best we can throughout the winter months. There are many factors which play a role in compromising our immune system, including high stress levels, lack of sleep and nutritional deficiencies and Shabir has written about all of these in his article linked below. It makes interesting reading, most especially because it highlights how excessive refined sugar is also a threat to the immune system. Anyway, back to Daily Immunity and I am dropping the price of this supplement from £27 to £22.
VH Editorial: Winter SOS Survival Guide; Daily Immunity £22 for 60 Capsules (offer ends at midnight GMT, Friday 25 November)
Continuing with supplementation, a few words about Wild Nutrition’s Vegan Protein + Superfood Blend, which helps support your mind and body with the triple power of vegan protein, super greens and adaptogenic mushrooms. This is more than a straight protein blend as it harnesses nutrient-dense foods in one convenient powder, providing 16 grams of protein, 2 grams of adaptogenic mushrooms and 2 grams of superfood. Wild Nutrition say that Vegan Protein was inspired by people navigating the twists and turns of life and it should be considered as an antidote to modern life. I say that I am dropping the price of this powdered supplement from £40 to £31. For the interim.
Vegan Protein + Superfood Blend by Wild Nutrition £31 for 350 grams
Because we are all different and we all like different products, another skincare offer. This time it is from Heritage Store and earlier this year I wrote about their Rosewater Cleanser, which is a gentle milk wash and Rosewater Moisturizer. There really is something to be said about using simplistic products and both of these products epitomise that statement. And the offer is pretty simplistic too. Buy one, get one free on both products. That’s it.
Rosewater Cleanser by Heritage Store £12.49 for 118 ml + One Free; Rosewater Moisturizer by Heritage Store £18.49 for 59 ml + One Free
It all started with the Healing Patches from Ross J. Barr and the story continued when we launched the Calm Patches, followed by the Sleep Patches. Obviously each launch is different, but we launched these products with an intent to help heal on many different levels in line with our mission of helping to make a positive difference to each of your lives. And because making a positive difference can be played out in many different ways, I am taking the price down across each of three patches from £15 to £10. Get patched.
Healing Patches from Ross J. Barr £10 for Five Patches; Calm Patches by Ross J. Barr £10 for Ten Patches; Sleep Patches by Ross J. Barr £10 for Ten Patches (offer ends at midnight GMT, Wednesday 23 November)
If shorter, darker days are making you feel blue, then do read Sarah’s article about how to beat winter blues. It is thought that about two million people in the UK suffer Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), so Sarah reports on ways to fight SAD. The article includes plenty of tips on how to overcome the blues and working in conjunction with Shabir, Sarah has written about three of his recommended products. I’m just going to pull one of those products out and it’s Viridian’s Saffron Extract which has been clinically researched to support mood and other factors. Saffron helps emotional balance, relaxation and a positive mood. Linked below, with a price drop.
Beating Winter Blues by Sarah Stacey; Saffron Extract by Viridian Nutrition £16.50 for 30 Capsules (down from £19.65)
One final product fling and it comes from Derma E. Vitamin C Bright Eyes Hydro Gel Patches are one of Derma E’s bestselling products and they are an amazing antidote for tired, dull-looking and puffy eyes. They will instantly cool, hydrate and brighten the eye area and if you want an extra blast of chill, keep a jar in your fridge. Loaded with Vitamin C (obviously), Vitamin B3, Caffeine and Allantoin, I am taking the price of Vitamin C Bright Eyes down from £24 to £19. For the interim. Or whilst stock lasts. And although I don’t have proof, I’m convinced Shabir uses them because he has his own list of ‘things’, and eye products are a definite thing for him.
Vitamin C Bright Eyes Hydro Gel Patches £19 for 60 Gel Patches
As we go into the Saturday only treat, I am staying with Fulvic and with every order placed for £30 and above, excluding p&p, we will automatically send you Fulvic Conditioner (60 ml). We didn’t include the Fulvic Conditioner in our Black Friday offers, so not wanting it to be left out completely, I thought it only right to do this and it’s your choice as to whether you wish to use it as a straight conditioner, or as a hair mask. Full product details below.
Fulvic Conditioner
And as we come to the end of another Weekend Read, all that is left is for me to say that I will continue to make a stand for all that is good and genuine in this world. I absolutely know that Black Friday can bring out the very worst in people, but I have to distance myself from the games people play, because I refuse to join in and play mind-games with you on false pricing structures and deceptive emails. If we are to continue to support each other, then there has to be trust between us because we are lost without it. And we need to continue dancing on our platform with each other. So, let’s dance on a Saturday morning. Or evening in Australia. Thank you.
Let’s Dance by David Bowie; The VH Playlist
With love
