Weekend Read 29 March 2025

Well, here we are, on the verge of British Summer Time and as the clocks go forward tonight, we look forward to lighter days as we prepare to embrace the seasonal changes. And as the seasons change, our product focus changes too and I have been writing about seasonal products across the past few weeks, yet notwithstanding that, there are of course the products we depend upon whatever the season and these are the products which have become so incredibly important for so many of us.

There is, and always has been, a distinct separation between core supplementation, such as Hyaluronic Acid, NAD+ Generator, Mega Probio and Liposomal CoQ10 and the supplements which support specific health concerns, yet it is in that support they become core in and of themselves. Superior Joints is one such supplement and across the years this cutting-edge supplement has provided joint pain relief from arthritis, knee pain, muscle pain and backache, so we are going to take a look at joint health, but first some statistical evidence which supports its core status for so many of us.

It is estimated that over 30% of the adult population suffer from some sort of chronic pain, usually associated with the degradation of joints, but that statistic jumps up to nine out of ten people over the age of 60 with the most common joint concern being arthritis. Arthritis is a general term for numerous conditions that may affect our joints and tissues, with the most common form of arthritis being osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis affects the weight bearing joints such as the back, knees, hips and the small bones in our hands. These joint tissues are affected because of their repeated use which results in the loss of the cartilage between the bones. When the cartilage which cushions the joints degrades, it results in bone rubbing onto bone causing a loss of flexibility, joint swelling and joint pain. Since arthritis is degenerative, it would seem appropriate to consider taking a safe and effective supplement rather than Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), which are not without side effects. That supplement is Superior Joints.

The key ingredient in Superior Joints is Natural Eggshell Membrane (NEM®), a thin membrane that is found just beneath the eggshell containing several compounds including proteins, glycosaminoglycans, hyaluronic acid, rare amino acids, collagen and elastin, each of which play a role in joint health. Many of the benefits of NEM® are thought to be the result of its nutrients being able to boost the production of critical joint molecules and in one notable study over a sixty-day period it was found that significant pain relief was achieved within ten days and analgesic use had dropped considerably after taking NEM® for thirty days.

We are of course all different, and I therefore need to caveat the findings of the study because we must always allow time for any form of supplementation to start working, so with all of that said, I will also say this. There is no doubt in my mind that Superior Joints is an extraordinary formulation for joint health, it has always been extraordinary, but Hyaluronic Acid is also an extraordinary formulation and we consider both to be best-in-class. And because rather a lot of us take Superior Joints and Hyaluronic Acid, when you buy Superior Joints, we will automatically include Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength (15 Capsules) with your order which is worth £17.50.

Staying with Superior Joints, I am linking Shabir’s article on lower back pain below, mostly because I feel it is important to talk about the impact of back pain, but this is also to say that lower back pain is the most common type of pain. The small of the back, known as the lumbar region, undergoes considerable stress and can become sprained easily. Most of us will experience lumbago at least once in our lives, but recurrent lower back pain may actually be associated with the degeneration of the discs between joint tissues due to wear and tear, resulting in pressure on the spine which can lead to inflammation and lower back pain.

Given that we recommend Superior Joints for lower back pain, we also recommend HA mostly because our levels of HA decline with age, but also because HA provides the cushioning between the joints that then enables cartilage to re-stabilize, whereas a lack of HA causes pain in movement which often results in chronic inflammation which, in turn, can lead to progressive wear. With that established, I want to talk about the use of a topical solution which can be used as an adjunct to supplementation, and there is a story here because Pure Magnesium Oil, which we have recommended for the longest time, has gone to product heaven.

It is always a sad moment when a product goes to product heaven, but when that product is superseded by a superior product we celebrate the supersedence of efficacy, so please allow me to introduce you to Ancient Magnesium Oil Ultra. Ancient Magnesium Oil Ultra is a high-strength magnesium spray designed for direct skin application which is enriched with OptiMSM®, a premium form of MSM, for enhanced bioavailability. Combining two powerful anti-inflammatories, it provides effective pain relief for back pain, leg cramps and Restless Leg Syndrome so, by way of introduction, I am dropping the price of Ancient Magnesium Oil Ultra from £18.95 to £16.
VH Editorials: Lower Back Pain; Restless Legs Syndrome; DoSe Hyaluronic Acid Capsules High Strength £35 for 30 Capsules; Ancient Magnesium Oil Ultra by Good Health Naturally £16 for 200 ml (offer ends at midnight BST, Sunday 30 March)

On theme, Superior Hair is another supplement which has become core in and of itself and it has been specifically formulated to treat thinning hair, supporting follicle health and hair loss. The single biggest factor of hair loss is an imbalance of the female hormones which leads to male hormone dominance, but obviously stress plays a significant role too. Whenever I write about hair loss, I always caveat my words, essentially because it can take several months for any form of supplementation to work, so let’s take a look because, in full transparency, there are no overnight fixes.

I think it is important to say here that it is completely natural to lose hair on a daily basis and it is thought that we lose between 50-100 hairs daily, however it is also important to note that hair loss in women can be exacerbated through the menopausal years and it is thought that up to 40% of women are affected. Referencing menopausal hair loss, I am linking Shabir’s in-depth article below, and we move on because I now want to talk about the importance of using cutting-edge pioneering topical products to address hair loss, mostly because many topical products contain harsh chemicals which may be damaging to our hair follicles.

Notwithstanding the fact that I wrote about the Fulvic haircare products last weekend, I am throwing the focus on Fulvic Mist, which is a potent and invigorating treatment for hair loss and thinning hair. As with all the Fulvic products, it is powered by Ioniplex®, a patented complex which works hard to renew cell life and keratin function of the scalp, follicles and hair. It has always been so incredibly important to support and demonstrate efficacy so, in demonstration, when you buy Superior Hair, we will automatically include Fulvic Mist (60 ml) with your order, which is worth £12.50. And as a side note, I spray Fulvic Mist onto my skin, after cleansing. I always have.

Much is written about adaptogens, they have been studied extensively and they were identified in 1957 by a Russian toxicologist, Nicholay Lazarev as ‘substances that increase non-specific resistant against multiple stressors’. Introducing the idea that adaptogens are thought to regulate the release of stress hormones produced by the adrenal glands, he considered that they help restore the body’s immune function, supporting the resistance of stress, which in turn reduces fatigue and exhaustion, and probably the best-known adaptogen is KSM-66® Ashwagandha.

KSM-66® Ashwagandha is the most scientifically studied form of Ashwagandha, and supporting emotional balance and relaxation, Wild Nutrition’s KSM-66® Ashwagandha is a full-spectrum, root-only formulation containing 600 mg per dose (two capsules), which aligns with the dosage used in several studies. Sustainably sourced from the southern regions of India, we are offering a 20% discount on KSM-66® Ashwagandha Plus across the weekend, and to keep things neat, we are also offering a 20% discount across the entire Wild Nutrition range, whilst stock lasts.

Onwards, and let’s throw some love at Fulvic Face Cream, which has taken a back seat in recent weeks because we have been very busy celebrating the first anniversary of DoSe skincare. As with DoSe skincare, Fulvic Face Cream was formulated to demonstrate the importance of the health of our skin, and it does that exceptionally well because Fulvic has of course got wound-healing properties. But more than that, Fulvic Face Cream is loaded with powerful antioxidants, alongside the active ionic minerals which are essential for cell regeneration, and Fulvic Face has been regenerating my skin for several years.

Every product has a story, and the story here is that Shabir formulated Fulvic Face Cream for my ridiculously sensitive skin, but on from that I want to talk about moisturisers and SPFs because we are often asked why Fulvic Face doesn’t include sun protection. There are various schools of thought here and most certainly in recent years the popularity of moisturisers containing SPF has steadily increased, however in a study published by the British Association of Dermatologists, it was noted that moisturisers with SPF provided less sun protection than the equivalent strength sunscreen in real-world scenarios.

This came with a warning for people not to rely on moisturisers with SPF for their main sun protection needs, particularly if spending extended periods in the sun, and we fully concur with those findings, as do the iS Clinical boys, whose thoughts and opinions I deeply respect. So, with that said, let’s bring this all together and it looks like this. When you buy Fulvic Face Cream, we will automatically include the travel size Fulvic Face Cream (30 ml), which is worth £15, but we will also include Coola’s Classic Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 (25 ml) which is fragrance-free and has a value of £16. I totally love Coola’s products. Just thought I would add that into the equation.
Fulvic Face Cream £30 for 60 ml + Fulvic Face Cream (30 ml) Free (worth £15) + Classic Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 (25 ml) Free by Coola (worth £16); Coola Products (offer ends at midnight BST, Sunday 30 March or whilst stock lasts, one gift per customer)

As you can imagine, I had a great big smile on my face as I wrote those last three paragraphs because skin health is so incredibly important, so here I just want to say that we should be very careful not to rely on make-up with sun protection either, it rarely offers the protection needed, despite the marketing hype. And, as we all know, there is way too much hype and nonsense in the health and beauty industry. Leaving it there.

Last weekend I wrote about the new Alfresco products which really are fabulous, and I also wrote that Lara had fallen in love with the Power Eau de Parfum, so much so that I probably should have let her write that section of the newsletter, except I didn’t. I went on to say that her moment would come another time, and her moment has come, except it isn’t about the Alfresco products, which I am linking below, but about another product, so the following words are from Lara and I will return to write the final paragraphs of this newsletter after her words.
Alfresco Power Anti-Bug Bite Spray £40 for 50 ml; Alfresco Power Face & Body Soothing Lotion £35 for 200 ml; Alfresco Power Face & Body Soothing Lotion £17.50 for 100 ml; All Alfresco Products

I’m invading the Weekend Read for a moment to talk about my dog, Ziggy. Some of you may remember him, he is now four-years-old and he is a beautiful Cavapoo. Gill calls him Ziggy Stardust, but we move on because he recently developed a rash on his inner groin and I started to panic. Was it fleas? No signs. An allergy perhaps, but nothing in his diet had changed. I couldn’t get an appointment with the vet, but when I called, they suggested dabbing oats on it to try and soothe his rash at home, and of course I thought of OatSoak Natural Intensive Balm.

Oatsoak Natural Intensive Balm is not marketed as a pet product, and I will just say that now, but the vet had recommended I use oats, so Ziggy got coated with the balm and the rash cleared overnight. I was over the moon, and perhaps the next treat for Ziggy will be a long OakSoak bath, because if it feeds our skin, it can feed Ziggy’s too. And because I am rather like my mother (that would be Gill), I love celebrating momentous occasions, and this is certainly a momentous occasion, so I am throwing a 15% discount across all the OatSoak products this weekend, with the latest photo of Ziggy linked below. We couldn’t love him more.

And with those words from Lara, I’m back and I’m back to tell you that Neom have just released six new products, three of them are hand washes and three of them are hand lotions. There are three versions, Great Day, Real Luxury and Complete Bliss, but it’s not only about these new products, it’s about another celebration and this time we are celebrating Neom as a brand. We love Neom, and we love their new products, so when you spend £35 on any of the Neom products in one order, we will automatically send you the Happiness Scented Candle Travel Size, which is worth £20. Product details listed below and there is only one gift per customer whilst stock lasts.
Neom Wellbeing Products; Happiness Scented Candle Travel Size (if the gift fails to go into your basket, that will mean that the offer is over)

One final thing before we head into the Saturday only treat and this is a reminder that the March offer from Temple Spa will end at midnight BST, Monday 31 March and that offer is Windows Of The Soul, a cooling eye gel that helps reduce puffiness which drops in price from £35 to £25. And soon it will be April. I suppose I should start writing about Hay Fever. Perhaps I’ll do that next weekend.
Windows Of The Soul by Temple Spa £25 for 15 ml

Into the Saturday only treat and with every order placed for £35 or above, excluding p&p, we will automatically send you a single Healing Patch* from Ross J. Barr. I have chosen this gift because I opened the Weekend Read talking about joint pain and this Healing Patch will effectively help to ease most aches and pain. Product details are listed below, but to complete this Weekend Read, I am throwing a 15% discount across all of the Ross J. Barr patches.
Healing Patches; All Ross J. Barr Patches (offer ends at midnight BST, Sunday 30 March)

To end, Ziggy is multi-talented, but he doesn’t play guitar. David Bowie plays guitar. And we sing.
Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie; The VH Playlist

Wishing each of you a restful weekend.

Warmest love.
