Bare Biology Skinful Marine Collagen plus Vitamin C Strawberry flavour helps support everything from our skin, muscles, joints and bones to our fingernails and hair.

Bare Biology Collagen Powder is sourced from certified sustainable hydrolysed wild codfish skin (Gadus morhua) and is made in Norway. With powerful collagen from wild cod, find a radiant glow that’s more than skin deep. Superior to bovine collagen, Skinful Marine Collagen has a nearly identical chemical make-up to skin, containing the same ratio of glycine, proline and hydroxyproline as that found naturally in human collagen. The peptide molecules in Skinful are also much smaller in size than bovine collagen, making it more bioavailable and easy to digest.

At only 19kcals per serving and pure protein, Bare Biology marine collagen powder is great for low-carb and keto diets. Each pot of Skinful contains between 30 to 60 x 5g servings. Bare Biology recommends 10g daily for the first month & 5g thereafter.

Unlike many ‘fishy-tasting’ collagen supplements, Skinful Marine Collagen with Vitamin C has a sweet, fruity taste so it’s easy to add to cold drinks, yogurt, overnight oats, smoothies and shakes. The super-fine powder means it dissolves quickly and without lumps. Free from beef, pork and chicken. Gluten free. GMO free. Suitable for everyone, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding if you've taken it before without any problems.

Directions: As a food supplement take 1 tablespoon (5g) daily, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Mixes beautifully in smoothies, shakes, juice or just plain water. Unlike collagen, vitamin C isn't stable in heat, so this version is best enjoyed mixed into cold food/drinks.

Allergy advice: Fish and may contain traces of Shellfish. Not suitable for people with Fish or Shellfish allergy.  Collagen supplements are generally well-tolerated with no known drug interactions. However, some people have been known to experience mild side effects, ranging from feelings of fullness to mind diarrhea and on rare occasions, skin rashes. Taking collagen supplements with food may help to avoid any gastrointestinal problems.  Some people notice that they feel thirstier when they consume more protein. Listen to your body and drink extra water if you need to.  Collagen can possibly reduce your serotonin levels. There is a small amount of tryptophan in our marine collagen but the other amino acids cause the liver to increase uptake of it by the liver and reduce uptake by the brain, therefore leaving less in the blood to be used to make serotonin. Please always consult your GP if taking SSRI's. Do not exceed the daily recommended amounts. Store in a cool place with the lid firmly closed and out of direct sunlight. Consult your doctor before taking if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have any medical condition or are on medication.

Does this collagen contain iodine?
There are no traces of iodine in our Skinful Marine Collagen products.  The fish skin that is used in our production of collagen goes through several cleaning and filtration processes before it ends up as collagen peptides.

What is the powder made from?
Hydrolysed wild codfish skin (Gadus morhua). Made in Norway.

How long will this tube last?
300g pot lasts:  2 months if you take 1 standard size tablespoon (or 3 standard teaspoons) a day.

What's an amino acid profile and why is it important?
We all know collagen is good for our skin but the real magic lies in the levels of amino acids they contain.  Collagen peptides normally contain around 19 different amino acids, including eight of the nine essential amino acids. The important amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline are the most prevalent in collagen peptides, making up 50% of its total amino acid content - the same amount that's in human skin.

Is maltodextrin used in the drying process of this collagen?
No.

Is this tested for heavy metals?
Bare Biology test all their products for purity, including heavy metals such as mercury.

Is the fish used sustainable?
The Norwegian manufacturer only uses MSC-certified, wild codfish from the North Atlantic using the discarded skin from fish fillets. Sustainable and waste-reducing.

Some collagens cannot be absorbed properly by the body.  Please can you explain some of the science behind this collagen.
The body can absorb these hydrolyzed collagen peptides (meaning tiny fragments) and free amino acids with a very low molecular weight of under 3,000 Daltons.
