Vitamin B6, also called pyridoxine, has been shown to alleviate the emotional symptoms of PMS such as mood swings, low mood and irritability.
Vitamin B6’s role in PMS also appears to be one of helping the body produce more progesterone and so help achieve hormonal balance between oestrogen and progesterone.
Vitamin B6 may be combined with magnesium both of which work to combat the most debilitating form of PMS called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). A minimum of 50mg of vitamin B6 should be taken on a daily basis.
