What are Liposomes?
Liposome Encapsulation Technology (LET) is a well-established scientific innovation that has been safely and effectively used for over 30 years to enhance nutrient and drug delivery. Liposomes are microscopic, sphere-like bubbles that encapsulate nutrients, protecting them from the harsh digestive environment of the gut. This protection helps to increase absorption and ensure more of the active ingredients reach the bloodstream. Liposomes are made from phosphatidylcholine (PC), a natural compound derived from sunflower lecithin. Their membrane structure mirrors that of the body’s own cell walls, allowing the body to recognise and rapidly absorb them into the bloodstream. Once absorbed, the body efficiently transports the liposomes, delivering nutrients directly into the cells where they are needed most.
How much Vitamin D3 do I need, and how much is too much?
micrograms (400 IU) for most adults, while the EU Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) is slightly lower at 5 micrograms (200 IU). Recent studies suggest that higher doses—typically in the low thousands of IU—may also play a role in supporting immune function. However, it’s important not to exceed the recommended dosage on the product label and to stay within official safety limits. The UK and EU safe upper daily limits for Vitamin D are as follows: adults and children over 11 years: 100 micrograms (4000 IU), children aged 1–11 years: 50 micrograms (2000 IU) and infants under 12 months: 25 micrograms (1000 IU).
How much Vitamin K2 do I need, and how much is too much?
There are two types of Vitamin K found in our diet: Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and K2 (menaquinone). Both are important for blood clotting; however, K2 (in particular MK-7) also supports the body’s absorption of calcium. D3 and K2 when combined is thought to work to a greater effect when compared to each vitamin taken individually. According to UK guidelines (EU is not too dissimilar), the daily recommended Vitamin K Intake is as follows:
- Birth - 6 months – 2 mcg’s
- 7 - 12 months – 2.5 mcg’s
- 1 - 3 years – 30 mcg’s
- 4 - 8 years - 55 mcg’s
- 9 - 13 years – 60 mcg’s
- 14 - 18 years – 75 mcg’s
- Adult men (19 and over) – 120 mcg’s
- Adult women (19 and over) – 90 mcg’s
- Pregnant or breastfeeding teens – 75 mcg’s
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women – 90 mcg’s
A safe upper limit for Vitamin K is 1 mg (equivalent to 1000mcg)*. *The information provided here is for general guidance only. Please check online for the most up to date information.
