Pulsin Pea Protein Powder is a highly concentrated plant-based protein powder sourced from yellow peas. With 80% protein and a neutral flavour, the Pulsin Pea Protein is incredibly versatile and heat-stable, so it can be easily mixed with sweet and savoury dishes for a delicious vegan boost.
Pea protein powder is a complete and high-quality vegan protein, which means it contains all nine of the essential amino acids. Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle mass and bones, as well as helping growth in muscle mass.
Pulsin pea protein isolate is vegan, non GM and contains no added fillers, sugars or sweeteners, making it a great alternative to whey protein.
Directions: Mix one heaped dessertspoon of Pulsin protein (10g) with water or milk. We recommend 1-3 portions per day, depending on your protein requirements. Take at any time in the day to boost your total protein intake. A 10g serving (1 heaped dessertspoon) provides 8g of protein.
Our In-House pharmacist, Shabir Daya has written an article about Pea Protein:
Made in a factory that handles nuts, peanuts; milk products. May contain soya. Do not take if pregnant or breast feeding. To be stored in a cool dry place and protected from light. Store in a cool, dry place.
Pea Protein Isolate
Is Pulsin Pea Protein Powder gluten-free?
Yes, pea protein powder undergoes gluten testing and contains less than 20 ppm of gluten, which is the EU definition of gluten-free.
Is Pulsin Pea Protein Isolate suitable for vegans?
Pulsin Pea Protein Isolate Powder is 100% vegan.
Where does the PEA protein powder originate from?
Pea protein originates from yellow split peas grown and produced in China.
Can I mix the pea protein powder with water?
Yes, the protein powder is designed to be mixed with water; however, for more of an indulgent taste, try mixing it with your favourite milk.
At what age can I start using the protein powders?
Pulsin protein powder can be taken at any age; however, it is not recommended for use on babies and infants. For young children, it would be recommended that you half the suggested serving of 10g and slowly introduce the protein powder into the diet.
The suggested serving is only 10g, but can I have more if I would like more protein?
Yes, the serving suggestion is the minimum serving rather than the optimum. You may have more powder if you would like; however, gradually increase the volume, as different consumers’ digestion systems can react slightly differently to increasing volumes. It is also recommended that you do not exceed 40 grammes of powder in one serving (generally, your body can only use a maximum of 40 grammes in one sitting). Please also bear in mind that the recommended protein intake in the UK for women is 45g and for men 55g. However, this can vary according to your height, muscle mass and gender (your lifestyle and activity levels).
Can the protein powder be cooked?
PEA protein has the highest tolerance to heat, so it is the safest protein to use for baking and cooking.
As an athlete, can I overdose on the protein powders?
Standard doses do exist according to activity level and body composition. So it is recommended that protein consumption not exceed 3 g/kg of lean body mass per day. However, recent evidence has seen an effect of 4.4 g/kg per day, with no negative effects shown. It is advised that this protein comes from a wide range of food sources, including protein products.
Are Pulsin protein powders tested for doping?
None of the Pulsin products have been tested by HFL in line with anti-doping regulations but they do not believe that any of their products would cause any issues relating to doping.
What is the production process for the pea vegan protein powder?
Peas are dehulled and finely milled, then water is added. As the protein fraction is soluble and the fibre and carbohydrate fractions are not, via mechanical separation and filtration, the protein liquid can be separated from the rest. Then sodium carbonate is added to manage the pH before being spray-dried.
Why is Pea Protein Powder higher in salt than some other proteins?
The Pea Protein is higher in salt because the type of pea used to produce it is naturally higher in sodium. Unfortunately, the way they are extracted does not remove any of it. Pulsin does not add any additional salt to any of our protein powders.
