Menopause is when a woman stops having her periods and is an inevitable “rite of passage” which usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55 years.

Before menopause is reached, there is a transition phase called the perimenopause and refers to a time when women may still experience some effects of low hormones but not to the intensity during menopause.

Menopause is different for each individual woman and the most common symptoms of menopause include hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, disturbed sleep & anxiety or low mood.

The most common treatment for menopause is hormone replacement therapy however this is not without side effects and many women therefore seek out natural supplements and remedies for menopause. Many symptoms of menopause, especially hot flushes which affect almost 79% of women going through the menopause, respond well to herbal remedies and supplements.

There are many supplements for menopause but one of the most popular remedy for menopause for relief of hot flushes is Sage. Sage has been studied extensively for its ability to treat hot flushes but also to prevent night sweats. Other herbs that may also be of benefit include Red Clover, Soya extracts and Black Cohosh. Vitamins that may be helpful during menopause for hot flushes include vitamin E.
