Maqui Berry

Maqui berry is a dark purple fruit which grows wild in many parts of South America. The berries, stems and leaves have been harvested for thousands of years by the indigenous Mapuche Indians in Chile.

Each Maqui berry has a high antioxidant content and so maqui berry benefits a wide range of health concerns which include maintaining stable blood sugar levels, reducing inflammation and protecting the heart including the cardiovascular system.

The antioxidants found in Maqui berry, especially anthocyanidins, may help to protect our eyes from damage caused by excessive light exposure but it is Maqui berry extract, rather than the fruit, that may offer high amounts of antioxidants that may be beneficial for eye health. Another group of antioxidants found in Maqui berry supplements, delphinidins, are known to help provide relief to sufferers of dry eyes. There are no known side effects to the use of Maqui berry supplements which are available either in capsule or powder form.
