PerfectTed Organic Matcha Green Tea Sticks contain matcha tea powder made from shaded, nutrient-dense green tea leaves that originate from the foothills of Uji, Japan. Matcha powder is rich in amino acids, antioxidants, and slow-release caffeine for optimized all-day energy. Now available in a pre-measured sachet that is ideal for taking with you while you are on the go.

Matcha comes from the Japanese words "ma" (ground) and "cha" (tea), and it was first consumed 900 years ago by Buddhist monks to improve focus during meditation and long study hours. It was then adopted by samurai and used for long-lasting energy.

PerfectTed Matcha Powder comes from Uji, a region high in the hills around Kyoto known for producing the highest quality matcha. Matcha is the most prized amongst Japanese teas, as it is high in antioxidants and has numerous health benefits for your body and brain.

Although not causing jitters, crashes, or anxiety, matcha has the same amount of caffeine as a small coffee or conventional energy drink. When comparing the caffeine content of matcha to that of coffee, it is essential to keep in mind that matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine. The calming energy boost associated with drinking matcha comes from the high levels of L-theanine. L-theanine has been shown to minimise anxiety, relieve stress, and boost focus.

Ceremonial Grade Organic Japanese Matcha Green Tea

What is matcha and where is it from?
PerfectTed matcha is organic and ceremonial grade made from the youngest, freshest tea leaves from the first harvest in the foothills of Uji, Japan. Uji is the region renowned for producing the world’s best matcha.

Is PerfectTed matcha always organic?
Yes, always!

What's so special about first harvest (first-flush) matcha?
During winter, tender buds have a chance to hibernate and acquire extra nutrients. First harvest matcha comes from the first spring harvest, thus capturing the extra nutrients that the tea plant works so hard over winter to develop. As a result, the first harvest matcha has 3X the L-theanine and twice the caffeine of second harvest (second flush) matcha, which contains significantly fewer antioxidants and nutrients.

How long does matcha last?
PerfectTed Organic Matcha Powders have an expiration date on them, but matcha usually has a shelf life of approximately 2 years. For maximum freshness, store your matcha away from light, preferably in the fridge once opened.

How much caffeine is in Matcha Powder?
68mg caffeine per 1 tsp (2g) matcha.

How should I store my matcha powder?
Store it in an airtight container away from direct light exposure.

Why is matcha more expensive than green tea?
Due to the meticulous process in which ceremonial grade matcha is grown and harvested. Matcha green tea powder has 10x the benefits of your standard cup of green tea.

Is PerfectTed matcha tested for radiation and heavy metals?
Yes, PerfectTed matcha goes through all required testing, specifically for radiation and heavy metals.

How much matcha should I have in a day?
That’s up to you and your body! The same limits you’d set for yourself on coffee should be applied to matcha.

Tell me about the harvesting process.
Matcha, harvested from the leaves of the Tencha bush, is grown in a way that amplifies the taste and health content.  Unlike with other teas, tencha bushes are placed in the shade for three weeks before harvest. To do this, Matcha farmers erect structures above the Tencha bushes to minimise the amount of direct sunlight available. As tencha bushes naturally need direct sunlight to survive, they will grow quicker in an attempt to reach the sunlight.

Why is PerfectTed harvested by hand?
Higher quality leaves are more tender and have a less pungent smell. As such, hand-picking these leaves to then grind into matcha is key if you want to achieve the highest possible quality end-product. However, harvesting matcha by hand is of course more expensive than doing so by machine.  When you see cheap matcha offered online, it may not be handpicked and could be a blend from different locations. The overall quality of this matcha will inherently be lower.

Why is Matcha in demand so much right now and how does that impact the price?
Matcha is more in-demand now in the West than ever before, with what was once a luxury becoming an everyday use item. Even large corporations like Starbucks are selling it! Demand always plays a role in price increases, but we also can't forget the availability of matcha. The best matcha only grows in specific geographic locations, most notably Uji, Japan. There are, however, products on the market from China that are typically lower quality, not radiation-tested, and have undergone processes lacking in quality control.  At a high level - Matcha can be expensive due to the lengthy and unique harvesting process that requires meticulous manual handling and quality assurance. Moreover, because the best matcha comes from a single region in Japan (Uji), there is only a limited supply of the top quality product.
