HairMedic HairIron is a iron supplement that contains Iron Bisglycinate, which is a non-constipating, easy-to-digest form of iron that is designed to treat thinning hair caused by a low level of iron.

Iron deficiency has been recognised as an important factor involved in hair shedding. Increasing iron stores (ferritin levels) by taking iron tablets for hair loss lengthens the growth phase of the hair. As the excessive shedding slows down, the hair increases in volume.

Iron contributes to the healthy formation of red blood cells and supports the transport of oxygen throughout the body. Iron also helps release energy and contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. HairIron contains Vitamin C and Copper, which both increase iron absorption and help maintain a healthy immune system.

What is iron good for?

Ensuring you have adequate iron stores will not only help your hair but will aid:

  • Normal cognitive function
  • Normal energy-yielding metabolism
  • Normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin
  • Normal oxygen transport in the body
  • Normal function of the immune system
  • Reduction of tiredness and fatigue

Directions: As a food supplement, take one tablet of HairIron daily to raise iron levels or every other day to maintain iron levels. You should take your iron supplement on an empty stomach (preferably one hour before a meal) with water, or as recommended by a healthcare practitioner.

Why is the way I take Iron important?

Absorption of iron from the gut is reduced by food, black tea and milk, so these should be avoided for one hour before and after taking the iron supplement. It's not recommended taking iron at the same time as other medications, particularly ones that affect absorption of iron from the gut, such as anti-acids and certain antibiotics. Always check with your Doctor whether any of your other medicines might affect how your iron supplements work.

The following side-effects are common: tummy upset, nausea (feeling sick), tummy pain, diarrhoea, constipation. These usually improve as your body gets used to the iron supplements. If needed, you can reduce the dose to every other day. If this is better for you, try to then increase back to your original dose.

Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. Keep out of reach of young children.  Do not exceed the daily dose. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor.
