Weekend Read 6 January 2024
Hello, it’s the first Saturday of the New Year, we are back together again, so before anything else, I would like to wish each of you a happy and healthy 2024 as we now look forward to all that this year will bring and there will be many new and exciting changes, which I will drip-feed over the coming months. And we are going straight in as I introduce you to DoSe by VH. Dedicated to pioneering research and development, DoSe is an exploration of difference, demonstrating the power and efficacy of natural ingredients in an integrated and elevated approach to health and wellbeing.
A celebration of transformational, evidence-based supplementation, DoSe is an ode to the extraordinary, defying the status quo of the ordinary. In a moment of historic relevance, DoSe is an evocative echo of The Sunday Times What’s The Alternative column where, over two decades ago, pioneering natural health products were recommended by us as an alternative to allopathic medicine, bringing natural health to the forefront in the mainstream media at that time. Unifying expertise, passion and integrity, DoSe offers a series of exceptional formulations which, in and of themselves, become an empathic alternative to the mainstream offering.
The story begins with the launch of the first DoSe product, but actually the story began many years ago when we first started talking about Liposomal Encapsulation Technology, a pioneering and ground-breaking delivery system which protects vitamins from degradation, most specifically as they pass through the harsh environment of the stomach acids. The science is fascinating and you can read all about it in Shabir’s article, which I will link below, but for now please allow me to introduce you to DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C.
DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C provides two forms of Vitamin C, ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbate, to maximise the multiple benefits that Vitamin C provides to the body. Whilst we mostly understand the importance of Vitamin C, it is often assumed that we get sufficient of this important nutrient from our diet, but unfortunately extensive studies indicate that many of us have less than optimal levels of Vitamin C in our bodies, essentially because of its widespread involvement in enzymes and bodily processes.
The water soluble form of Vitamin C, ascorbic acid, is utilised immediately to act on damaging free radicals and other processes, which are then readily excreted away. The second form of Vitamin C, sodium ascorbate, is a buffered form of Vitamin C which the body converts into ascorbic acid, providing sufficient Vitamin C for our daily requirements, ensuring that Vitamin C is maintained at an optimal level, which of course is of crucial importance.
Both of these forms of Vitamin C are found in Quali™-C, which is the world’s first branded Vitamin C, demonstrating a high absorption, traceable and sustainable source of Vitamin C. DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C provides Quali™-C encapsulated in tiny oil-type bubbles called liposomes and these liposomes protect the Vitamin C during digestion, until it enters the circulatory system where it can be delivered to cells.
Several human trials have indicated that there is up to 200% greater bioavailability when Vitamin C is delivered in a liposome, as opposed to other forms of Vitamin C, such as tablets or capsules and that is the point of difference; there must always be that difference. Additionally, every batch of DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C is quality checked against five parameters including particle size, pH, the presence of stable liposomes and confirmation of the concentration of Vitamin C.
Being an independent alternative to the mainstream offering, DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C is an exacting solution in an over-crowded marketplace. In line with each of our formulations, we believe that DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C is best-in-class as we continue to strive for excellence in all that we do. And surely, that must continue to be our ultimate purpose. A purpose where we uphold our ongoing respect for the research, studies and clinicals, which really do make a difference to our health and wellbeing. Our raison d'être for being.
With all of that said, we are of course going to celebrate the launch of our first DoSe product, so as we do that, I will tell you that the price of DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C is £35, but I am dropping that to £30 across this weekend, with a wave and a smile to the VH Addicts.
VH Editorial: What Are Liposomal Vitamins; DoSe Liposomal Vitamin C £30 for 240 ml (48 servings) (offer ends at midnight GMT, Sunday 7 January)
One more thing here and this is where I announce that all of the VH supplements will be re-branded throughout the year and each of those supplements will carry the DoSe branding. These things take time, but I will of course keep you updated as and when this happens, but just also to say that the formulations remain the same, unless Shabir decides to tweak some of them if new research comes to the fore. DoSe will become a far bigger story across 2024, so there will be much more to share in the coming weeks and months as we continue that exploration of difference.
Returning to the here and now, Superior Joints is one of those supplements that really makes a difference and it makes a difference because it provides joint pain relief for arthritis, knee pain, muscle pain, backache and shoulder pain. Enabled by Natural Eggshell Membrane (NEM), which has been clinically proven to reduce pain and stiffness, NEM is joined by a series of other targeted nutrients including Turmeric, Ginger and HA, all of which contribute to supporting joint health, which is such an important factor for so many of us.
In time, Superior Joints will of course carry the DoSe branding, but there is something else here because throughout the year I am going to use the word ‘dose’ in differing scenarios, so I will use Superior Joints in demonstration as I offer you an opportunity to ‘dose’ Superior Joints with NutraJoint Tea, a herbal tea blend formulated to offer relief for painful joints. And it looks like this, if you buy Superior Joints, we will automatically include one packet of NutraJoint Tea (20 tea bags), which is worth £5.99, whilst stock lasts. Playing with words. Creating alchemy.

I think it is important to say here that although we will be talking about DoSe throughout the year, we will continue to support and recognise the brands and the products which we believe excel in their own specific genres. Symprove, which helps to support the gut microbiome, is one such product and it is a four-week programme formulated to help maintain digestive health and replenish friendly bacteria in the gut. Gluten free and vegan, the price of Symprove drops from the recommended price of £79.99 to £63.99 for the entire month of January, which seems a good way to kick-start the year. Throwing the focus on gut health.

I often write about Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), notably because the health and beauty benefits of ACV are well documented and scientifically based, so please allow me to introduce you to a new product from Derma E which uses ACV as its core ingredient. That product is Scalp Relief Rinse which has been specifically created for the removal of styling products which tend to build-up on the strands of hair, most especially if styling products are used on a regular basis.
Scalp Relief Rinse offers an ideal solution to product build-up and ACV is joined by Salicylic Acid and Lactic Acid, which play a role in gently removing dead skin cells and debris from the scalp. In a moment of nostalgia, I remember my teenage years when I used to rinse my hair with vinegar to make my hair shine and Scalp Relief Rinse does just that, it helps restore shinier hair and it also helps to reduce frizz. I have been writing about the importance of scalp health for a very long time, and Scalp Relief Rinse is an exemplary example of where beauty meets health, and health meets beauty. The crossover.
Scalp Relief Rinse by Derma E £15 for 120 ml
Staying with ACV, Shabir has written an article about the health and beauty benefits of ACV which I will link below. In that article he recommends Willy’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar With The Mother, primarily because it contains the ‘mother’ substances from organic apples which have not been grown using pesticides or insecticides. So, an ACV treat here and that treat is that with every bottle of Willy’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar bought, we will automatically include Willy’s Turmeric, Black Pepper & Honey Apple Cider Vinegar Shot (60 ml) which is worth £2.65.

A mention here for Frank Fruities, a new range of vitamin gummies made from fruit and fortified with vitamins and minerals. Certified by the Swiss Vitamin Institute, Franks Fruities are a great alternative if you find it difficult to swallow capsules and tablets and there are seven products in the range. These include Energy & Metabolism, Skin, Hair & Nails, Kid’s Multi, Men’s Multi and Pump Iron. So, as I tell you that Shabir rather likes this range, I will acknowledge that endorsement by throwing a 15% discount across each of the products this weekend, ending at midnight GMT tomorrow, Sunday 7 January.

There are certain things in life which are a given, and it has become a given that we share a different TEMPLESPA treat with you each month and for the month of January that treat is Windows Of The Soul. Windows Of The Soul is a cooling eye balm-gel that helps to cool the skin around the eye area, helping to reduce puffiness. Containing Edelweiss, Milk Thistle and Echinacea, Windows Of The Soul drops in price from £35 to £25, with this offer ending at midnight, Wednesday 31 January.
Windows Of The Soul by TEMPLESPA £25 for 15 ml
I don’t think this next treat will last until midnight on Wednesday 31 January, and in fact I’m not even sure it will last until the end of the day. The product is Intensive Anti-Ageing Hand Serum by Margaret Dabbs, which is an overnight treatment specifically formulated to plump, firm and protect our hands. The price of Intensive Anti-Ageing Hand Serum is £30, but in a limited edition offer it drops to £15. And the reason I know why this offer won’t last long is because I have done it before, so I am just managing expectations here as we do it again.
Intensive Anti-Ageing Hand Serum by Margaret Dabbs £15 for 30 ml (whilst stock lasts)
Well, let’s continue with anti-ageing products and we’ll do it with Anti-Aging Multipeptide Serum, which is a potent anti-ageing peptide serum incorporating multiple technologies formulated by Shabir. Three things, the first is that Shabir originally formulated it for his own use, the second is that it is one of our bestselling serums and the third is that I am dropping the price of Anti-Aging Multipeptide Serum from £22 to £19 across the weekend. And with a tra-la-la, we are nearly at the end of the product section.
Anti-Aging Multipeptide Serum by Garden of Wisdom for VH £19 for 30 ml (whilst stock lasts)
So, with just one more product to talk about, let that product be a candle. I think you all know how much I love candles and I always have candles burning, most especially during the winter months when the nights are cold and dark. There is something about the flame of a candle which brings a sense of comfort and because light must always prevail over dark, an invitation to seek the warmth of that light as I drop the price of Neom’s Cosy Nights Travel Candle from £19 to £12, whilst stock lasts. And once they have gone, they have gone.
Cosy Nights Travel Candle by Neom Organics £12
And into the Saturday only treat we go, and with every order placed for £35 and above, excluding p&p, we will automatically include Be Calm by TEMPLESPA (15 ml)*, a gentle cream hydrating face mask which acts as a tonic for stressed skin. Full product details linked below.

As we come to the end of the first Weekend Read of the year, a few more words. Writing about DoSe is, for me, an emotional return to where it all began, on the pages of The Sunday Times. All too often people forget their roots, but I have always, and will always acknowledge the opportunity of being featured on a platform which allowed us to talk about the products that were light years ahead of anything else at that time.
Nostalgia is like wearing a comfort blanket, and although so very much has changed around all of us, the vision and purpose remains as it ever was. There are many more words I could write, but rather than do that, I am going to refer to an article I first shared over twenty years ago. I want to share it again today because it illustrates the profound vision of how to live our lives with each other. And just perhaps we can fly without wings, a dedicated acknowledgement, also given over twenty years ago. Singing the song.
