What is liposomal vitamin C?
Liposomal Vitamin C is a type of Vitamin C that is better absorbed by the body than regular Vitamin C. Liposomes are tiny, nano-sized bubbles that mimic the body’s own cell membranes. Liposomal Encapsulation Technology (LET) is the process of filling tiny bubbles called liposomes with hydrophobic or hydrophilic substances like Vitamin C. In other words, by protecting and helping Vitamin C travel through the body, liposomes aid and speed absorption.
What Is the Difference Between Liposomal Vitamin C and Regular Vitamin C?
The main difference between Liposomal Vitamin C and regular Vitamin C is the presence of liposome bubbles surrounding the Liposomal Vitamin C. These protective liposome bubbles are the reason why Liposomal Vitamin C is better absorbed by the body. For Vitamin C to reach our body’s cells, it must be protected from the digestive system’s juices and ‘presented’ in a fat-friendly form that can pass through our cell membranes. A regular vitamin C supplement is largely degraded by this process and if the nutrients do reach their destination, they're not in an optimal state. A liposome shields nutrients from the harsh digestive environment and this allows for successful delivery to the intended destination, with the contents largely unscathed.
Is liposomal Vitamin C really better?
Studies prove that supplementing nutrients via liposomal delivery results in much higher absorption into the body. The higher absorption means greater dispersion and bioavailability, allowing the nutrient to reach the targeted cells and tissues.
