Vitamin C, D, Zinc & Calcium

Vitamin C for children is important for keeping their body working and developing properly. It's essential for the development of healthy bones, teeth, gums and blood vessels. Vitamin C also strengthens the immune system, helps the body absorb iron and calcium, helps healing of skin and keeps your brain working properly.

Vitamin D supplementation for children is recommended for all children from birth to four years of age in order to prevent a deficiency.

Zinc deficiency is not uncommon. Zinc helps to maintain a healthy immune system as well as encourage skin healing. Recent studies showed that children using zinc supplements had a better mental performance than their counterparts.

Children should get enough calcium in their early and teenage years because their bones grow so rapidly in length, width and shape in such a short time. It is estimated that more than 50% of girls and boys fail to get their recommended daily amounts of calcium. Whilst calcium and vitamin C may be important, they are different in that vitamin C is an antioxidant primarily for collagen production, and calcium is important for bone health and repair.
