Is this toothpaste GMO or non GMO?
Green People do not use any ingredient or raw material that has been genetically engineered. Most of the plants used as sources of our ingredients are not subject to any form of genetic modification, so with those materials, it is not an issue. Where they do use ingredients that come from plant species that can be subject to genetic modification (such as maize or corn), they only use materials that are from feedstocks that are identified as being of non-GMO origin. This provides a documented evidence chain that traces the material right back to the seed from which it is grown and guarantees that no genetic modification or contamination has taken place. Green People organic certification bodies can also insist on independent PCR testing to provide further evidence that the ingredients we use are free from genetic modification.
Is vegetable Glycerine a palm oil derivative?
Glycerin is used in Green People's toothpastes to retain moisture levels in the mouth. It is derived from the oil of the seeds of the Karanja tree in India, which otherwise goes to waste. This is a valuable new commodity for villagers, whose communities are now benefiting from the production of glycerin. The Karanja tree itself is a helpful resource for villages, as it stabilises the earth and prevents flooding.
What is the concentration of fluoride in Mandarin and Aloe Vera toothpaste?
It contains 1,000 ppm.
What colour is the toothpaste?
Because Green People doesn't use colourants to artificially whiten our toothpastes, they are naturally beige or cream in colour.
Will the citrus damage the enamel?
Citrus juices have been shown to cause acid erosion of tooth enamel over time because they contain acids that lower the pH in the mouth to a point that softens the enamel. Citrus essential oils are very different and will not lower the pH like citrus juices. Citrus essential oils are not made from the juice of the citrus (e.g., orange, lemon, mandarin, grapefruit), but from the rinds; they are pH neutral, meaning they are not acidic, will have no damaging effect on the tooth enamel, and are totally safe to use.
