Due to the nature of the psyllium husks within Lepicol, it is able to absorb water and bulk stools during diarrhoea episodes, whilst creating a soft gel and stimulating peristalsis which aids in the smooth passage of the stool during constipation episodes. Lepicol psyllium husks are therefore able to help normalise bowel movements from both extremes.

Does Lepicol contain gluten dairy, soya or GMOs?
Each of our specific probiotic strains need various nutrition sources to aid in their growth in culture. Cow's milk and soya are used in the fermentation (manufacturing) process, although it goes through a filtration process a number of times, and the cryoprotectant coating applied to our strains before freeze drying to enhance stability. On testing the final Lepicol, small traces of casein have been detected so would not be suitable for those with a severe milk allergy (to milk proteins). Tests have also shown that many of our strains produce lactase, the enzyme deficient in lactose intolerant sufferers necessary to breakdown lactose (the milk sugar). Our products are therefore suitable for those with a lactose intolerance. On last testing soya was below the lower limit of detection. Lepicol and our whole psyllium husk products are a gluten free. The fermentation mix used to culture the protease in Lepicol Plus contains wheat/wheat derivatives. Therefore, Lepicol Plus may not be suitable for coeliac sufferers. Only non-GM ingredients are used.
What is the difference between the capsules and the powder?
Lepicol is sold in both powder and capsules as alternative forms of administration, dependent on the individual's preference. For every tsp of the powder we recommend 4 capsules. Most people therefore, find the powder easier to take on a daily basis but the capsules can be useful when travelling.
