Solgar Folate 400mcg provides calcium-L-methylfolate, as Metafolin®, the body's preferred choice of folate. Folate is one of the B-vitamins and is extremely important during periods of rapid growth such as pregnancy, infancy, and adolescence but also in the elderly population whoin particular do not reach the UK recommended daily allowance.
Folates is the generic term comprising all the various chemical folate forms, including the provitamin, folic acid. Green leafy vegetables in particular are rich in folate. Metafolin (calcium-L-methylfolate) is the body's preferred form of folate, a readily bioavailable form (folic acid is a provitamin and needs to activated to folate in order to be utilised).
Sufficient folate levels are critical throughout our entire life.
