Uneven Self Tan?

Uneven Self Tan?

Respect Your Skin Barrier Before You Reapply:

  • Scrubbing harder won’t fix uneven tan.
  • Exfoliating before tanning is good practice.
  • Over-exfoliating to “reset” uneven fade is not.

Here’s why.

Self-tan develops in the outermost layer of the skin. That layer needs to be intact, flexible, and evenly hydrated for colour to develop predictably.  When you aggressively scrub to remove patchy tan, you disrupt the skin barrier.  Your barrier regulates water loss and keeps the surface stable. When it’s compromised, dehydration increases. The surface becomes uneven at a microscopic level.

And an uneven surface means an uneven reaction.

So you scrub to fix the fade…but you create a less stable canvas for the next application.

The result?

  • More grab in high-friction areas.
  • Less predictable development.
  • Faster, patchier fade.

In formulation, you cannot out-perform a compromised surface.  You have to respect it.

That’s why we built TanOrganic around skin behaviour first. Support the barrier. Maintain flexibility. Create a stable environment for the reaction to happen properly.

  • Less force.
  • More understanding.

Have you ever tried scrubbing harder to fix uneven fade — only to make it worse?
