For external use only. Keep out of reach of young children. Avoid contact with eyes.Prolonged exposure to the sun may be harmful. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin ageing. Many sun creams contain a filter (ingredient) that helps to protect the skin from the sun's rays. In some cases, this can interact with certain fabrics and may stain clothes or other fabrics. It is for this reason care should be taken when applying sunscreen around clothing.

Why was Anti-Redness & Pigmentation SPF50 Light developed?
Anti-Redness & Pigmentation SPF50 Light was created in response to popular demand for a lighter-shaded, redness-concealing sunscreen. Fairer skin tones are more frequently affected by visible signs of rosacea, so this formulation provides both a lighter colour and texture while maintaining high-factor, photostable UVA and UVB protection. It combines redness-concealing technology, visible light protection, and calming ingredients, alongside SPF50 and 5-star ultra-UVA (PPD 52) coverage, to protect and even skin tone throughout the day.

Who developed Altruist Anti-Redness & Pigmentation SPF50 Light?
This redness reducing cream was created by consultant dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon Dr Andrew Birnie. It is designed to provide high-performance protection against UVA and UVB rays while being suitable for sensitive, fair, and redness-prone skin.

What is Anti-Redness & Pigmentation SPF50 Light?
This is a green-tinted 2-in-1 cream for redness providing moisturise and sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum SPF50 with 5-star ultra-UVA protection (PPD 52) and blue light defence. This face cream helps neutralise redness, evens skin tone, and protect against pigmentation, making it ideal for fairer skin.

What is the difference between the Light and original Anti-Redness & Pigmentation SPF50?
The Light SPF50 has a subtler, lighter tint designed specifically for fairer complexions (Fitzpatrick phototypes I and II), whereas the original SPF50 suits a wider range of skin tones. Both deliver high-factor broad-spectrum protection, redness coverage, and moisturisation.

What skin concerns does it target?
The Light SPF50 is formulated to address redness, uneven skin tone, sensitivity, dark spots, and pigmentation, thanks to its redness-concealing formula and active plant complex.

How should I apply it?
Gently massage the product into the face, neck, and décolletage until an even tone is achieved. Reapply throughout the day, especially after swimming, sweating, or towelling, to maintain consistent protection.

Can it be worn under makeup?
Yes. Its light, natural finish makes it an excellent base for makeup while still providing high-level sun protection.

Do all skin types need sunscreen?
Yes. Sunscreen protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Fairer and more sensitive skin types are particularly susceptible to sun damage, making daily SPF essential.

What’s the difference between SPF and UVA protection?
SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, measures UVB protection and helps prevent sunburn. SPF50 blocks approximately 98% of UVB rays. UVA protection shields against ageing and long-term skin damage, and the PPD 52 rating ensures maximum defence against UVA rays.

When should I use sunscreen?
Sunscreen should be applied whenever you are outdoors in daylight, even if it is cloudy or you are behind glass. It should be reapplied every two hours and after swimming, sweating, or towelling to maintain optimal protection.

Is it water-resistant?
Yes. The Light SPF50 is water-resistant, but reapplication is necessary after swimming or heavy sweating.

Does Altruist test on animals?
No. All Altruist products are cruelty-free.

Are Altruist sunscreens reef-safe?
Altruist avoids oxybenzone and octinoxate, ingredients harmful to coral reefs, and continues to review reef safety for all formulations.

Does it use chemical or physical filters?
Altruist combines both chemical and mineral filters to achieve broad-spectrum protection while maintaining a light, comfortable feel on the skin.

Is Octocrylene safe?
Yes. It is approved by the European SCCS, and the concentration in Altruist sunscreens is well below safety limits, providing effective protection without irritation.
