Vitabiotics Osteocare® is the number one calcium supplement in the UK. Osteocare® has been formulated by leading doctors and pharmacists. Osteocare Original provides 100% NRV (Nutrient Reference Value) of calcium carefully combined with co-factors including vitamin D, zinc and magnesium, all of which help to maintain normal bone health.
The well-balanced formula provides a rich source of calcium with co-factors to help maintain strong bones and teeth, as well as the health of the heart, muscles, and nerves. The formula includes the full-recommended daily allowances of calcium and magnesium, which play a vital role in bone development, along with vitamin D and zinc. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption and utilisation of calcium, and zinc helps in the constant regeneration of bone.
Osteocare® Original is the UK's No.1 calcium formula and has been scientifically developed on the basis of the very latest research to provide a rich source of calcium and co-factors including vitamin D which helps with the normal absorption of calcium by the body. Osteocare Original is suitable for vegans too and is officially approved by both the Vegan Society and the Vegetarian Society.
This improved formula has been developed in line with the latest ‘Vitamin D and Bone Health’ guidelines (ROS, 2018) for regular maintenance intake, providing 25μg of vitamin D3*. Alongside magnesium, calcium, zinc, plus four additional supporting nutrients. Osteocare contains the preferred D3 form of Vitamin D. Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is the form of vitamin D that is produced by the skin on exposure to sunlight. D3 is the preferred form of vitamin D because it is the specific form made in the human body and therefore more effective than D2 which is found in some supplements. Vitabiotics’ nutritional experts have formulated Osteocare® Original with vitamin D3 derived from a natural vegan plant source (Algal).

Why is calcium important?
Ensuring an adequate intake of calcium is vital for men and women of all ages, as evidence suggests that healthy practices early in life, including the adequate consumption of calcium and trace elements, contribute to normal bone health and optimal bone mineralisation. Peak bone mass, obtained during childhood and adolescent growth is known to be of major importance in maintaining bones later in life. The UK Department of Health recommends that everyone should consider taking a daily supplement containing vitamin D, particularly during autumn and winter.
Why is calcium is vital for older women?
Both sexes lose bone mass during their lifetime but after the menopause women usually lose bone mass much faster than men. Postmenopausal women have an increased risk of bone loss for three reasons:
- Bone mineral content tends to be lower in women than in men
- Dietary calcium intake may decrease with age
- The rate of bone loss accelerates at menopause
